Concurrent with Emanuel Macron and Sisi’s visit to Arish on Tuesday, political parties run by security services, along with Ibrahim el-Organi’s tribal connections, arranged a “protest” in N Sinai opposing the displacement of Gazans.
On the same day, opposition activists held a Gaza solidarity protest in front of the Journalists Syndicate in downtown Cairo.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said Wednesday that his country will offer temporary shelter to Palestinian medical evacuees and children orphaned by the war. Netanyahu told the security cabinet the same day that negotiations were underway with two large countries to absorb large numbers of Gazans who will emigrate voluntarily.
FM Badr Abdelatty discussed the latest developments in Gaza and the Red Sea with his British and Iranian counterparts in separate phone calls on Thursday.
A group of Egyptian passport holders gathered Thursday at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza, appealing to Sisi and the Egyptian Foreign Ministry to evacuate them from the besieged strip, citing ongoing risks of death, displacement, and starvation.
62% of Americans oppose the US taking over Gaza, including 49% who strongly oppose it, while 15% favor Trump’s proposal and 22% say they aren’t sure.
Egypt and Israel will participate in African Lion 25, the largest US Africa Command exercise to date, which kicks off today in Tunisia, followed by activities in Ghana, Senegal, and Morocco starting in May. The drill involves over 10,000 troops from more than 40 countries. In addition to Egypt, other Arab participants include Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania, and the UAE, while Algeria and Qatar will attend as observers.
